ROUGE VALLEY I
Mixed Media, 15 x 19 inches
This work was inspired by a late day walk near the mouth of the Rouge River in Rouge National Urban Park in Ontario. This bank of trees near the shoreline was blowing in the wind and the surf was washing up.
“We retain traces of different depth and for different lengths of time of the impressions we have obtained from nature. The selection of these impressions determines all the characteristics of the work, that is to say, they are the “being”, the character of the painter.” – Ferdinand Hodler (1853-1918)
