ALGOMA BOREAL I
Mixed Media, 16 x 20 inches
The inspiration for the Algoma Boreal series was dawn light in an Algoma region (Ontario) forest as clouds were clearing after a heavy rainfall. There is often a slight greenish tinge to the light if it is warm after a heavy rain. I wanted to convey the dampness of forest air and the feeling of looking at the sky through mist and trees as a storm is passing.
“An artist must educate himself, he cannot be educated, he must test things out as they apply to himself; his life is one long investigation of things and his own reaction to them. If he is to be interesting to us it is because he renders a very personal account.” – Robert Henri (1865-1929)
