STORM LIGHT V
Oil and Wax, 10 x 12 inches
The Storm Light series of paintings was inspired by the variety of light I’ve witnessed before, during and after severe stormy weather. There are no depictions of specific locations but they are more my impressions of the light present during adverse weather conditions. They are based primarily on memories and/or historical notes regarding the nature and subtleties of the interplay of light during such events.
“But this marvelous world which we bring forth by means of our sympathy and penetrate through our intuition, will we ever come to know it? Perhaps we will be able to lift the vague indications of our intuition out of their limited sphere into the precise and clear plane of intelligence. But such triumphs are bounded by our capacities and we cannot rise above ourselves—that is the drama.” – Jacques Villon (1875-1963)
